Do you worry about risk when evaluating stocks? One idea is to consider a stock's recent trading volatility.

With this idea in mind, we ran a screen. We began by screening for low-volatility stocks, with average intra-day volatility over the last month under 1.5% (meaning, on average, these stocks have traded within a 1.5% range each day). We then screened for those currently rallying above their 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages, indicating that these stocks have strong upward momentum.

Finally, we screened for those that may still be undervalued, by comparing price trends to changes in EPS estimates over the last month.

Based on the assumption that P/E is equal to a constant k, increases in EPS should be matched by increases in price. When they don't match up, a mispricing may have occurred.

We screened for stocks with faster growth in EPS estimates than price over the last month, which may indicate that these names are being undervalued.
