Water Bills Beware: Part I
Reducing the amount of water you use at home should help bring down those water bills each month.
Using less water means washing clothes and dishes only when the appliances are full and choosing the quick wash whenever possible. Always look for energy-saver options on modern appliances. If you’re buying a new appliance, be sure there are more sophisticated options that can be adjusted based on your load. Get over your temptation to pre-wash dishes. There is often no need to rinse dishes at all if you have a new dishwasher.
Also, try to reuse dishes, pots and pans when cooking and drink from the same glass of water all day. This will lessen the times you run the dishwasher.
If you do some or all of your dishes by hand, never wash them with the water running the whole time. Use a tub of hot water and a soapy sponge to wash each dish, then turn the water on to rinse them.

Comments
Alternative to rinsing is to dry by hand with a clean towel, as many outside the US have long been aware
Or have a smaller dishpan of rinse water to dunk the soapy dishes in. Then dry by hand or let drip dry. I put a smaller draining tray above my rinse pan to catch dripping water to be reused. For a small load of dishes (by hand), this works very well.
If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down! :)
Sounds gross, I know, but it does save water...
Best regards! thanks!
