Google (GOOG) CEO Eric Schmidt on the conference call last night (excerpt from the full transcript):

But perhaps most important, we believe the rate of innovation will increase in 2006 as we continue to bring the most talented minds into Google and our unique innovation model delivers amazing new products.

So we take a long term view of the business and we’re going to invest for the long term and make some really big bets.

Anyone have predictions for Google's "really big bets" in 2006? Perhaps this?

    Getting into OS, taking on Windows Vista, at least with the desktop/net interface. There's a rumor circulating about a Goog-branded Linux OS, and I think there's a good basis for that (though of course Google denies it at this point).

    John Battelle thinks it might be a P2P play.
