Do you worry about stock market volatility when choosing among companies? One idea is to consider a stock's recent trading volatility. With this idea in mind, we ran a screen.

We began by screening the S&P 500 for low-volatility stocks, with average intra-day volatility over the last month under 2% (meaning, on average, these stocks have traded within a 2% range each day).

We then screened for those with bullish sentiment from institutional investors, with significant net institutional purchases over the last quarter representing at least 5% of share float. This indicates that institutional investors such as hedge fund managers and mutual fund managers expect these names to outperform into the future.
