Commodity chart of the Day

Monthly S&P chart

I failed to find any notable breakout or breakdown today but let's talk big picture where did the S&P go in the last decade? The answer is nowhere. This index is supposed to be a good barometer of the overall health of the U.S. economy and if this market has tread water and been this volatile why do the majority of investors have most of their net worth in the stock market? Unless you are a stock picker, making money off your dividends or have timed the market why would you want to be in a sideways market?

This is not meant to be a bash on the stock market I just wish investors would open their minds more to commodities as an alternative to compliment their portfolios. I may have a bias opinion being a commodity broker for the last 11 years but seriously the alternatives…a sideways stock market, record low yields in the debt market and a fraught real estate recovery.
