About this author:

The oil infrastructure has a choke hold on all of us. The next big step is to allow an alternative fuel infrastructure to phase out the oil infrastructure. It is all about the infrastructure. The free market will force plug in fueled/electric hybrids until they are all electric. The automobile company that uses the best battery or fuel cell will be the leader. The Government must make the change before the consumer does. The consumer will have no choice but to follow the new energy infrastructure.

Gasoline hog manufacturers will suffer and their lack of vehicles sales prove it. Smart automobile companies will lead through discovery, creativity, and innovation. Those who put litigation in place of innovation will fail. Americans will lower individual carbon impact through Government regulation.

It makes no sense to burn foreign fuel in your American car. If you chant 'Buy American' then fight for American based fuels. Buy American means just that. Let your Congressman and Senator know that you want them to stop funding oil and support clean American based energy.

Electricity produced from renewable energy makes the most sense. Generating renewable electricity at the power plant level makes sense in a real world. If you want something to happen you must speak out by voting for the elected officials that support new and innovative ideas and rejects the status quo.

Corn based ethanol does not cause widespread food prices to go up. That's only big oil propaganda. The reason for high food prices is shipping and processing costs directly caused by high fossil fuel prices. If we could mix more ethanol with fossil fuels, it would hold us over until the next big renewable infrastructure is created.

Hydrogen produced from renewable electricity and water makes the most sense. The infrastructure is already in place. The big step is the incorporation of hydrogen safely into our society. All the money thrown overseas at about one billion dollars a day should be used to innovate better hydrogen use. I want to see a competitively priced hydrogen Hummer that is mass produced, sold everywhere, and fueled everywhere for under a dollar a gallon.

No investment content. Why is this on Seeking Alpha?

All assertions, no facts, plenty of wishful thinking.. Electricity produced from nuclear not even mentioned. Not a clue that the cheapest source of hydrogen is produced from natural gas, not electrolysis of water.

This gentleman is pushing solutions that have no real chance of being solutions anytime soon. Hydrogen? Infrastructure already in place? Do your research.

The real solution for alternative energy is distributive solar generation of electricity. Think: every rooftop covered with solar cells, with banks of batteries inside the building to store the power generated. This will also work to reverse the process of overheating our planet.

Hydrogen is a solution of the future, and always will be, because the energy needed to generate the hydrogen is more than the energy you can get out of it.

Fred ..... If it takes two units of energy to make one unit's worth of hydrogen, how/why does that make hydrogen the energy of the future??

It's the energy source of the future because you would need He3 fusion reactors to generate enough electricity to do so.

Does corn fuel ethanol policy increase oil use and oil profit?

    * Some folks think so

And what about solar energy and electric cars? Who do you work for? Or is it just that you have vested interests in bio fuels and hydogen fuel cells?
Sounds to me you have the George "W" disease...STUPIDGREED!

Imagine solar cells on all new homes built. Imagine you car going to work and back without burning any gasoline. Imagine your car running on an electric engine with no transmission. Imagine your electric having better horsepower and handling than you ever could have with a gasoline or diesel powered car. Imagine it because its true. All of this makes sense and is around the corner. Support altenative energy because it is kind not only to your wallet, it is the best stewardship you can demonstrate to the world for future generations. Cleaner air, new jobs, better health, and less war over oil.... all sounds like a winner to me.

Somewhat surprising to see a polemic like this on this site, but the guy makes at least one valid point; namely, the role of Big Oil propaganda versus ethanol as a motor fuel. It doesn't take a great deal of brain power to refute all of the anti-ethanol argument, yet all we seem to hear is the Big Oil side. Puzzling indeed.

What do nay sayers like "jive-" and "-gunk" have to offer but cynisism? At least Dave has passion for vision and action to free ourselves from the addiction to oil and moto-mania. Unless people act with their purchasing power and their drum-beat of forward thinking change, we will continue to submit to industry nonsense and have our crankcases drained until the well runs dry.
