Next week is a busy time for earnings, with many quarterly releases scheduled and lots of stocks to watch. However, my focus is on 15 of them that have earnings due in the next week. In this article, I will focus on the first set of 8 stocks, providing earnings previews to consider in anticipation of their earnings reports and will continue the series later this week. Use this list as a potential starting point for your analysis.

1. Apollo Group Inc (APOL): June 25, 2012

Apollo Group, Inc., through its subsidiaries, provides online and on-campus educational programs and services at the undergraduate, master's, and doctoral levels

Apollo has a market cap of $4.05 billion and will report its third quarter earnings results on June 25, 2012, after market close. The third quarter revenues are expected to be $1.12 billion when compared to $1.24 billion for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the third quarter are expected to be 97 cents a share down from $1.45 a share in the year-ago period. Apollo is currently trading around $33.55 with a 52 week range of $30.93 to $58.29. The stock has fallen 37.72% year to date.

2. LDK Solar Co Ltd (LDK): June 26, 2012

LDK Solar Co Ltd, together with its subsidiaries, engages in the design, development, manufacture, and marketing of photovoltaic (PV) products; and development of power plant projects.

LDK Solar has a market cap of $283.06 million and will report its first quarter earnings results on June 26, 2012, before market open. The first quarter revenues are expected to be $225.47 million when compared to $766.34 million for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the first quarter are expected to be a loss of -$1.14 a share down from 95 cents a share in the year-ago period. LDK Solar is currently trading around $2.12 with a 52 week range of $1.54 to $7.52. The stock has fallen 49.4% year to date.

3. Walgreen Company (WAG): June 26, 2012

Walgreen Co. (Walgreen), together with its subsidiaries, operates a drugstore chain in the United States. The Company provides its customers with multichannel access to consumer goods and services, and pharmacy, health and wellness services in communities across America. Walgreen offers its products and services through drugstores, as well as through mail, by telephone, and via the Internet.

Walgreen has a market cap of $27.44 billion and will report its third quarter earnings results on June 26, 2012, before market open. The third quarter revenues are expected to be $17.87 billion when compared to $18.37 billion for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the third quarter are expected to be 62 cents a share down from 65 cents a share in the year-ago period. Walgreen is currently trading around $31.8 with a 52 week range of $29.80 to $44.17. The stock has fallen 3.81% year to date.

4. Flow International Corporation (FLOW): June 27, 2012

Flow International Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, operates as a technology-based company providing waterjet cutting, surface preparation, and cleaning solutions in the United States, Europe, Asia, and internationally.

Flow has a market cap of $137.36 million and will report its fourth quarter earnings results on June 27,2012, after market close. The fourth quarter revenues are expected to be $62.63 million when compared to $59.54 million for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the fourth quarter are expected to be 4 cents a share up from 1 cent a share in the year-ago period. Flow is currently trading around $2.87 with a 52 week range of $1.90 to $4.49. The stock has fallen 18% year to date.

5. Commercial Metals Company (CMC): June 27, 2012

Commercial Metals Company engages in recycling, manufacturing, fabricating, and distributing steel and metal products, and related materials and services in the United States and internationally.

Commercial has a market cap of $1.40 billion and will report its third quarter earnings results on June 27, 2012, before market open. The third quarter revenues are expected to be $2.14 billion when compared to $2.08 billion for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the third quarter are expected to be 38 cents a share up from 32 cents a share in the year-ago period. Commercial is currently trading around $11.84 with a 52 week range of $8.64 to $16.48. The stock has fallen 14.39% year to date.

6. Family Dollar Stores, Inc. (FDO): June 28, 2012

Family Dollar Stores, Inc. operates a chain of self-service retail discount stores primarily for low and middle income consumers in the United States.

Family Dollar has a market cap of $8.46 billion and will report its third quarter earnings results on June 28, 2012, before market open. The third quarter revenues are expected to be $2.37 billion when compared to $2.15 billion for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the third quarter are expected to be $1.07 a share up from 91 cents a share in the year-ago period. Family Dollar is currently trading around $70.43 with a 52 week range of $44.42 to $74.73. The stock has risen 22.15% year to date.

7. Monsanto Company (MON): June 28, 2012

Monsanto Company, together with its subsidiaries, provides agricultural products for farmers in the United States and internationally. It operates in two segments, Seeds and Genomics, and Agricultural Productivity.

Monsanto has a market cap of $41.85 billion and will report its third quarter earnings results on June 28, 2012, before market open. The third quarter revenues are expected to be $4.00 billion when compared to $3.59 billion for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the third quarter are expected to be $1.60 a share up from $1.26 a share in the year-ago period. Monsanto is currently trading around $78.45 with a 52 week range of $58.89 to $83.94. The stock has risen 11.96% year to date.

8. NIKE, Inc. (NKE): June 28, 2012

NIKE, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, engages in the design, development, marketing, and sale of footwear, apparel, equipment, and accessory products for men, women, and children worldwide.

NIKE has a market cap of $45.56 billion and will report its fourth quarter earnings results on June 28, 2012, after market close. The fourth quarter revenues are expected to be $6.52 billion when compared to $5.77 billion for the same quarter last year. Earnings per share for the fourth quarter are expected to be $1.37 a share up from $1.24 a share in the year-ago period. NIKE is currently trading around $101.94 with a 52 week range of $76.98 to $114.81. The stock has risen 3.14% year to date.
