Sybase (SY) has now released the iAnywhere solution for bringing enterprise emails to the Apple (AAPL) iPhone. We blogged on this just a few days ago.

Based on the reaction, Sybase will get a lot more evaluation for their mobile messaging solution, even though it's designed to work with most all mainstream smartphones.

And my oh my, I just keep seeing more people with iPhones, just about everywhere I go this week in the Bay Area. I'm glad this is panning out as I expected a mere hour after the announcement of the iPhone's pending release.

Apple has finally found its toehold in the enterprise with iPhone. The only question is how much of the rest of the Apple bandwagon gets dragged into the big business maw. I have to say, using Keynote to whip out a preso I'm giving this morning saved my butt. Trying to do it in Powerpoint would have made me miss the point.

Oh, and now Safari runs on Windows, faster than most, and comparable to FireFox 3.x.

Yep, despite the Microsoft (MSFT)-funded malarky from some quarters, Apple is pushing its envelope further than ever. Productivity wins after all?

I'm an Apple stockholder and longtime fan, and I regularly use Keynote. Still, I have to admit I don't understand how using Keynote for your presentation "saved your butt" and using Powerpoint would have made you "miss the point". They're both very easy to use, very capable programs. To my mind the main differences are that:

    - Powerpoint has more features, which makes it more complicated
    - Powerpoint has uglier templates and clunkier transitions

Why you wouldn't be able to make a quick presentation in Powerpoint, though, is beyond me.

I'd love to install Safari on my Windows laptop, but it needs administrator privileges. My company's IT gods, who depend upon the trouble-prone and user-hostile Windows "experience" to justify their existence won't permit anything other than dated, security-flawed, and horrible MSIE 6. Firefox does not need admin privileges so much to their chagrin I use it instead. I refuse to use Explorer except for those (fortunately, very few) web sites that demand it. If Apple would release a version of Safari that does not require admin privileges to install I'd gladly use it.

    JS,
Like you, he probably finds PowerPoint more complicated and thinks he was able to much better communicate his message in a short period of time using Keynote. I know I've always hated using PowerPoint. I consider it one of Microsoft's most clunky programs. If I were in a rush to do a presentation there's no question which program I would choose. Keynote.

How much did they pay you for this commercial?

On Keynote: I started the pres in ppt but found it awkward and clumsy ... then I remembered the shop I was delivering the pres to was an Apple shop, so I switched to Keynote. I just got it done quicker and better and it looked great. It was just automated and easy. It saved my butt because the quality of the pres came through, rather than my frustration with the app.

Incidentally, I have never been employed by Apple nor ever took a penny in any consulting or other comp. I like their products is all.

I use Keynote frequently for my medical presentations. In the end both PP and Keynote get the job done but I would have to say the latter does it with zest and class. :-) Beautiful things attract attention. Period.
