With S&P 500 futures pointed higher again this morning, it looks like the gains of last week have given the market some positive momentum. Below we highlight the stocks in the Russell 1,000 that had the biggest gains last week.
As shown, VRTX, CECO, ESI and DDS were all up more than 30% from 3/31 to 4/4. Solar stocks including SPWR and FSLR also had a good week. The list of winners is spread across a number of sectors and groups. Energy, retailers, homebuilders, technology and financials are all represented.
We also highlight stocks in the Russell 1,000 that are the furthest above their 50-day moving averages. A strong market this week should mean more gains to come for these momentum stocks. If we do see a market pullback, many of these names will return back to normal trading ranges.
