Becton, Dickinson Opens Diagnostic Facility in China

Becton, Dickinson and Company (BDX) held the official opening of its second China manufacturing facility Wednesday in Suzhou. The new BD Diagnostics facility, which produces rapid diagnostic products for flu and viral infections, will employ 700 people when it gets to full capacity. The facility is located in Suzhou Export Processing Zone District B in the Suzhou Industrial Park.

The viral diagnosis products manufactured at the new facility are used to diagnose infectious diseases such as influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus. Over time, BD expects to expand the range of diagnosis products to include tests for additional bacterial, parasitic and viral diseases. These products will be sold around the world, including Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America.

BD’s first facility in Suzhou Industrial Park was built in 1995. It supports the BD Medical business. The new diagnostics plant is expected to begin production immediately.
