Kentucky Fried Chicken Stores Report Lunch Is Their Busiest Time And Fried Chicken Combination Packs Are Still Their Best Seller
Tickermine surveyed thirty-four KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) stores across the country. Twenty stores (59%) reported that lunch was their busiest time compared to 14 (41%) who reported that dinner was busier. Asked if there were specials offered this week, twenty-seven (79%) said yes with specials ranging from toasted wraps (32%) to 9 or 10-piece bucket deals (33%). Thirteen (38%) stores believed that the store's special made their location busier and twenty-one stores (62%) believed that the weekly special had no impact on business. The most popular item (74%) on the menu was reported as fried chicken in various box or bucket combinations. Four stores (12%) reported that the chicken & biscuit bowl was their most popular menu item and four stores (12%) surveyed said the chicken wrap was the most popular. The most popular menu item had been offered for a long time at twenty-eight (92%) of the KFC stores surveyed. Thirty-two (94%) restaurants have been at the location for more than one year and eighteen (53%) stated that McDonalds were their closest fast-food competitor. Others included Taco Bell (15%) and Burger King (15%).
A & W Specials Have Limited Appeal
62% of A&W restaurants in a recent poll were offering specials, but just 26% felt their location had been busier since the special started. Most locations (59%) named lunch as their busiest time. The Papa Burger is the most popular item on the menu at 59% of restaurants, with Mama's Recipe Chicken Sandwich a distant second with 9% of mentions. 85% of respondents stated the most popular item on their menu had been on the menu a long time.
Long John Silver's Restaurants Continue with Weekly Specials, But Few Think These Lure More Customers
Long John Silver's, America's fried seafood restaurant chain, was surveyed by Tickermine this month. 24 stores were consulted about their specials for that week, whether this has generated more business, what was the most popular menu item, is the store near a mall and which restaurant was their closest competitor. Lunch was the more popular mealtime apparently with 17 respondents or 71% and dinner was cited 7 times or 29%. Lobster Bites were the new special for this week for 13 stores or 54% followed by the Family Chest Treasure Pack and the Value Basket Combos each with 3 respondents or 12%. Crab cakes were cited by one party or 4% and 4 representatives or 16% reported having no special items this week. The majority of respondents, 19 or 79%, did not think the specials drew extra business and only 6 or 21% thought that the specials helped. The most popular menu on the item included Value Combos with 15 respondents or 63%. Lobster Bites had 5 mentions or 21%. Fish and Chips were cited 3 times or 13% and Treasure Chest Family meals were cited once or 4%. The Louisville, KY founded restaurant chain may be in need for a menu overhaul with all 24 respondents, so 100%, reporting that these items had been on the menu a long time, some citing for as long as seven years and location might be another issue with 21 or 87% reporting that a mall or competing fast food restaurant was nearby and only 3 or 13% reporting none. Asked which fast food outlet was nearest and the answers varied from McDonalds with 8 responses, Burger King with 3 and Arby's and Pizza Hut were both cited once.
