More leaked details about Research In Motion Ltd.'s (RIMM) highly anticipated touchscreen device – codenamed "Thunder" – have surfaced on the Web suggesting it will launch in the third quarter of 2008. The reports suggest the device, which will compete head-on with Apple Inc.'s (AAPL) iPhone, will be a full touchscreen BlackBerry with only four physical keys and no slide out keyboard.

But the most interesting part, according to The Boy Genius Report, is that it will launch as a worldwide lifetime exclusive on Verizon (VZ) and Vodafone as long as certain minimum sales quotas are met.

Based on his dialogue with carriers and partners, Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek believes the reports are accurate. He hears that the required milestones will likely be as high as the millions of units range in 2009. Mr. Misek told clients:

As a result, both Verizon and Vodafone are likely to devote massive marketing dollars to the campaign, which could lead to another blockbuster product for RIM.

As more details emerge, the analyst expects they could drive RIM shares higher in the near term. He reiterated his "Buy/Best Ideas" recommendation and $200 price target.

it seems the analysts have forgotten VALUATION. A $200 price would give RIM a Market Cap of over $110billion/ Rim is a company with $6 bn in sales with a profit of $1.3bn for the last year. Do they think 1999 is back? At that price RIM would have a p/e of almost 100. Their growth has slowed, no more 110%, last Q growth was less than 20%.

The stock has a bubble valuation, but it seems the Greater Fools keep buying (but for how long?)

The Wal-Mart Theory, going into effect once again. With how many people are in the world, if price is low many will buy, ultimately ending in profit.

It may not be as fast of profit as a regualr retail price, but it seems that people dont understand this theory. Profit Happens, unless your product is crap.

However, with us verizon customers left in the dust in gaining access to an "iPhone" type device, I think if anything we'd be a little sour when we come to possibly purchase the iPhone Killer code named ""Thunder&qu...

To bad they turned he contract down, they would have been right back at the top as a company in the business. You know it.
