There are many different strategies to trade and one of them is to look for dividend stocks. Investors like dividend stocks as long-term investments, as these dividend payments tend to protect the stock price from the market volatility that affects non-dividend paying stocks. However, careful analysis of dividend stocks and choosing the right dividend stocks at the right time is critical for investors.

In this article, I will focus on mid-cap stocks with a high dividend yield and with their ex-dividend date within the next week (August 06 to August 10). These stocks are screened based on the following criteria:

  • Security Type: Common Stock
  • Market Cap: Greater than $2 billion and less than $10 billion
  • Dividend Yield: Greater than or equal to 3%
  • Ex-Dividend Date: Between August 06, 2012 and August 10, 2012

1. Pitney Bowes Inc. (PBI): Pitney Bowes provides software, hardware, and services to enable physical and digital communications. Pitney Bowes has a market cap of $2.7 billion and is currently trading around $13.86 with a 52 week range of $12.64 to $21.20. The dividend amount is 37.5 cents per share, which is 11.33% dividend yield. The Ex-Dividend date is August 08, 2012, Record date is August 10, 2012 and the dividend payout date is September 12, 2012. The stock has fallen 27.94% for the year 2012.

2. R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company (RRD): R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company provides integrated communication solutions to private and public sectors worldwide. R.R. Donnelley & Sons has a market cap of $2.2 billion and is currently trading around $12.77 with a 52 week range of $9.95 to $16.75. The dividend amount is 26 cents per share, which is 8.66% dividend yield. The Ex-Dividend date is August 08, 2012, Record date is August 10, 2012 and the dividend payout date is September 04, 2012. The stock has fallen 16.01% for the year 2012.

3. Enerplus Corp (ERF): Enerplus Corporation, together with subsidiaries, engages in the exploration and development of crude oil and natural gas in United States and Canada. Enerplus has a market cap of $2.8 billion and is currently trading around $14.06 with a 52 week range of $11.35 to $30.42. The dividend amount is 9 cents per share, which is 7.54% dividend yield. The Ex-Dividend date is August 07, 2012, Record date is August 09, 2012 and the dividend payout date is August 23, 2012. The stock has 20.9% returns for the year 2012.
