There are many different strategies to trade, and one of them is to look for dividend stocks. Investors like dividend stocks as long-term investments, as these dividend payments tend to protect the stock price from the market volatility that affects non-dividend paying stocks. However, careful analysis of dividend stocks and choosing the right dividend stocks at the right time is critical for investors.

In this article, I will focus on mid-cap stocks with a high dividend yield and with their ex-dividend date within the next week (September 03 to September 07). These stocks are screened based on the following criteria:

  • Security Type: Common Stock

  • Market Cap: Greater than $2 billion and less than $10 billion

  • Dividend Yield: Greater than or equal to 3%

  • Ex-Dividend Date: Between September 03, 2012 and September 07, 2012

1. Frontier Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:FTR): Frontier Communications Corporation provides communications services for residential and business customers in the United States. Frontier Communications has a market cap of $4.6 billion and is currently trading around $4.63 with a 52 week range of $3.06 to $7.58. The dividend amount is 10 cents per share which is 8.64% dividend yield. The Ex-Dividend date is September 05, 2012, Record date is September 07, 2012 and the dividend payout date is September 28, 2012. The stock has -11.84% returns for the year 2012.

2. Regal Entertainment Group (NYSE:RGC): Regal Entertainment Group, through its subsidiaries, operates a theatre circuit in the United States. Regal Entertainment has a market cap of $2.1 billion and is currently trading around $13.77 with a 52 week range of $11.55 to $14.74. The dividend amount is 21 cents per share which is 6.1% dividend yield. The Ex-Dividend date is September 06, 2012, Record date is September 10, 2012 and the dividend payout date is September 18, 2012. The stock has 15.33% returns for the year 2012.

3. Pepco Holdings Inc (NYSE:POM): Pepco Holdings engages in the transmission, distribution, and supply of electricity. The company also distributes and supplies natural gas. The dividend amount is 27 cents per share which is 5.6% dividend yield. 4. Gannett Co Inc. (NYSE:GCI): Gannett Co operates as a media and marketing solutions company in the United States and internationally.
