Preliminary data indicates that 86.1 million people watched the Super Bowl, according to Nielsen Ratings. While the figure is down 4% from last year's game, it marks the highest rated show in Fox history.
Bob Parsons, CEO of GoDaddy.com, has reportedly expressed outrage over Fox's refusal to air the company's second commercial after halftime. The full, unedited version of that commercial never had a shot at making it on to national TV, which leads us to conclude that the whole incident was just a marketing ploy. I guess their plan worked. I'm sure that GoDaddy has had massive traffic at its site today, not necessarily from customers, but from guys who were eager to see the full commercial. At least there were no monkeys in the ad.
