Just like Yahoo (YHOO) did last year, Google (GOOG) has agreed to put in place a system that automatically detects and blocks PayPal and EBAY (EBAY) phishing e-mails from reaching your Gmail inbox.
This is another positive step in fighting fraudsters. Although, as Michael Barrett, the chief information security officer for PayPal states, "security on the Internet is never won with a silver-bullet approach, so I still encourage you to follow all of the general safe e-mail rules."
As a side note, I use a Yahoo email address, and despite the active blocking, I still think PayPal spoof emails are out of control. Lets hope the Google guys do a better job.
