Burlington Northern Santa Fe Corporation (BNI) is expected to report Q2 earnings after market close Thursday, July 24, with a conference call scheduled for 8:45 a.m. ET.

Guidance

Analysts are looking for a profit of $1.30 on revenue of $4.43B. There is a tight EPS consensus range of $1.30 to $1.31, and revenue range of $4.31B to $4.55B, according to First Call. Burlington Northern lowered its Q2 EPS guidance on June 18, now expecting $1.30 vs. a consensus of $1.41. The company stated that rising fuel costs and severe floods in the Midwest are the reasons for lowered Q2 expectations.

Analyst Views

On June 11, UBS added the company to its Short-Term Sell List. The firm said it sees risk to the company's Q2 EPS report, and maintained its Neutral rating. Investors will be interested to see how much fuel costs and the sever weather in the Midwest has effected the company's Q2 report.
