Two research firms have predicted in recent weeks that Janus would be negatively affected by the slump in equity markets. Buckingham downgraded Janus on July 15 to Underperform from Strong Buy. The firm reduced the company's rating based on their forecast for flat markets through the end of 2008, reduced equity flows, and lower stock multiples.
