Asia Pulse, citing a recent
report, claims that China's search engine market reached 940 million
yuan ($113.6 million) in 2004. The market is expected to grow at an
annual rate of 60-70% and reach 2.6 billion yuan by 2006.

from the basic search functions such as title search, news search and
web-page search, the search for MP3s, games and pictures are rising
swiftly. Trade search, e-shop search and regional search also grew dramatically in 2004.

Although the global
market has been monopolized by GOOG, YHOO, and MSFT, China has seen
some amount of success. Top Chinese search players include,
Yisov from YHOO, Sogou
from SOHU, NTES, and Zhongsou.
