About this author:

As  Apple Inc . (AAPL) nears a milestone of selling four million iPhone 3G's, investors should focus on the company's new holiday product lineup, expected to be revealed on Sept. 9, says RBC Capital Markets analyst Mike Abramsky.

According to Mr. Abramsky, Apple's is widely expected to introduce refreshed iPods, including a revised form factor iPod Nano and lower pricing/higher capacity iPods.

Apple may also announce updated iTunes software and up to 100 million iTunes applications downloaded (and over C$100M revenue) from its App store.

Mr. Abramsky added that there there may also be updated iPhone firmware, a refreshed Macbook and Macbook Pro product line with  Air-like features thinness, aluminum enclosures, larger multi-touch trackpads, and updated specs, along with possibly lower pricing.

Mr. Abramsky maintains an "outperform" rating on Apple with a $200 price target.

Re. "Apple may also announce updated iTunes software and up to 100 million iTunes applications downloaded (and over C$100M revenue) from its App store."

That would be 100 million iPhone applications from its App store, wouldn't it?

Probably means iPhone apps downloaded from the iTunes App Store.

I thought the upcoming event was only going to cover new iPods and a updated iTunes application. Both are welcome to me and I'd like to buy a 64GB Touch if it's available. I hope it comes with a robust battery.

This market is toast. And so is Apple. 200? Try 100 before the year is over.

No, there won't be any updates to other Apple hardware. Apple should either sell the Mac. rights to someone else, or discontinue it altogether. It's easy to see, Apple has been neglecting innovation on the Mac. for several years now. The MacBook Pro. has most of the same featureset that was part of the PowerBook G4 (dating back to 2001). And the Mac. Pro Tower likewise shares many of the same features that the PowerMac G5 had when it was first released in 2003. It's all about the iPhone now, and people need to realize this. Apple needs to spend the majority of its resources on the iPhone and iPhone development now. If a lag of 5 and 7 years in product innovation (on the products mentioned above) don't give you the hint, you need some serious help in understanding what the pattern means. The Mac. is history. Apple lost that war, long ago. I almost see the iPod going the same way, that market has long since reached maturity. It's all about the iPhone now, people. You need to realize this and let it go.

Only 4 million Iphones? I think it is almost 10 million. There is room for at least three new products. An Ipod without any memory that streams from an Itune account via the Internet. 10 cent fee per song and all songs are stored on the Internet. An Ivid that does the same with video and perhaps text messaging. An Icam that lets you stream video from a camera to the Internet account. All of these conveniently requiring a small monthly fee.
