Dinner Is the Busiest Time of Day at Big Boy (TRY)

Dinner is the busiest time of day at 45% of twenty Bob's Big Boy restaurants surveyed by Tickermine. Lunch was busiest at 30% and breakfast at 25% of the restaurants interviewed. The average check size for a party of two is $20 - $30 at 65% of the restaurants. During the survey week, 65% of the restaurants offered a special and 69% stated that the restaurant was busier since the special was offered. Most popular menu items include the Big Boy Combo at 45% and the Breakfast Bar at 15% of restaurants surveyed. Nineteen (95%) restaurants had been open for more than one year and 35% believed that worries over the economy have slowed business.

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants' (NASDAQ:MSSR) Prices Might Be too High, Survey Says

McCormick & Schmick's Seafood Restaurants was polled this week after the company's stock jumped after a positive Q2 report. We profiled 18 locations and asked whether lunch or dinner were busiest, which menu items sell best, how much parties of two will spend and how business is now compared with a year ago.

We learned that 78% of those polled say dinner is busiest and 22% say it is lunch. 56% say the menu lures their customers compared with 39% who say it is atmosphere and 6% felt it was the prices that bring people back. Half of those polled said that customers (parties of two) spend $51-$80, 39% say it is $25-$50 and 11% see bills of $100-$120. The most predominantly cited fave menu item was the salmon (44%) and while 44% say business is the same as a year ago, 44% say it is busier and 11% say customers have dropped.

Landry's Restaurants (LNY) Popular for Menu and Atmosphere

Customers eat at Landry's because of atmosphere according to 50% of the restaurants interviewed by Tickermine. Menu and "menu items" were the reasons stated at the remaining restaurants polled. Compared to lunch, dinner was busier at 92% of the restaurants surveyed and 96% had been open at that location for more than one year. Only 29% stated that they were located near a mall and other restaurants. The average check size for a party of two is $20 - $45 at 72% of restaurants. Eight (33%) restaurants claim to be busier this year compared to last but 21% said that they were less busy.

11% of Romano's Macaroni Grill (NYSE:EAT) Stores Say Business Has Tanked from a Year Ago

We interviewed respondents at the Romano's Macaroni Grill restaurants, part of the Brinker International Inc. chain, this week after the company announced its plans to sell a majority interest in Romano's Macaroni Grill. Twenty eight locations were surveyed on whether lunch or dinner were busiest, what sold the location (menu, atmosphere or the prices), which menu items excel, how much customers spend and whether business was up or down.

86% percent of those polled say that dinner is busier and 14% say it is lunch. 4% say their location is new and 96% say theirs is not. 50% reckon that the atmosphere drives business. 46% think it is a particular menu item and only 4% say it is the prices. 68% say parties of two spend $25-$35. 21% say $40-$60 and 11% see checks for $55-$60. The Chicken Scaloppini is cited as the best selling item by 11%, the same figure cited the Mozzarella Fritter. And while 50% say business is the same as last year, 39% say it is busier and 11% say it has tanked from a year ago
