As expected, Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) has moved to sell off parts of the Greenfield Online Inc. (SRVY) business that are not core to its Internet strategy, and it has reached a deal to sell Greenfield's Internet Survey Solutions business to the private equity firm Z.M. Capital LP. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.

While it has been less than two weeks since Microsoft entered a $486 million deal to acquire Greenfield, the company made clear at the time that it was buying Greenfield only for its Ciao GmbH European price comparison site and planned to dispose of other Greenfield assets. The company sees the Ciao property as a valuable tool in building its search business. - Andrea Orr
