With the bankruptcy of Lehman (LEH) and the turmoil at AIG (AIG), one would think that Financials would be the primary culprit behind today's early decline of 2.5% in the S&P 500.  However, while the sector is playing a large role in today's decline (-3.6%), Energy stocks are actually the worst performers on the day with a decline of 4.3%.

    I like you guys because you don't pontificate, or draw conclusions... Just present the facts... However, 'everything' took it on the chin today. You might have stayed out of ICU if you were in Healthcare and Non-cyclicals... But you'd still be under a doctor's watchful eye... jegan

    Energy cratered because, as we all know, there is going to be too much oil for some years to come (depression or recession demand destruction); The speculators are to blame for the over supply of oil due to their false and misleading buying of futures. I know its confusing, but that is just the way it is! Hold some energy stocks just in case.....
