40% of Respondents at Kona Grill (NASDAQ:KONA) Locations Say Business Is Dead

Fifteen locations of the Kona Grill were recently profiled by Tickermine researchers. We asked how long wait times were, what the specials are, how much do parties of two spend, is lunch or dinner busier and what are the favourite menu items? We learned that the average bill for two is $37.13. 87% report that dinner is busiest. 13% say it is lunch. 67% report having specials (sushi, steak and happy hour were cited.) 33% report no specials at all. But 60% report a spike in business, while only 40% report things as flat. 27% of those polled say the Macadamia Nut Chicken was the most popular menu item. The Sweet-Chili Glazed Salmon and then the Grilled Chicken Salad were each mentioned by 13%.

Most Parties of Two Spend Under $60 at P.F. Chang's (NASDAQ:PFCB)

P.F. Chang's, the Arizona-based Chinese bistro, was profiled recently, just after the company announced a menu change and no plans of hiking its prices next year. Respondents at 23 locations were asked which items sell best, how much is spent per party of two, and how long do customers wait? Twelve people or 52% reported customers waiting 10-20 minutes for seating. 17% said customers wait five minutes, the same ratio cited 25-35 minute long waits and 13% reported no waits at all. 57% said that parties of two spend $40-$50 per meal. 35% said that parties of two spend $25-$35, 17% see bills for $60 and 4% see bills for $80. And the best-selling menu item was the Chang's Spicy Chicken, say 13% of those polled. The Almond and Cashew Chicken, Citrus Soy Wild Salmon, Shrimp with Lobster Sauce and Sweet and Sour Pork were each mentioned by 9%.

28% of Arby's Respondents Say Specials Do Not Help Business

Arby's Restaurant Group, Inc., the subsidiary of Triarc Companies, Inc. (TRY), was polled this week as the company announced it will send coupons to customers via mobile phones. We asked which specials were offered, has this spurred new business, what is the most popular menu item and how old was the location? Thirty three locations were consulted. We found that dinner was busier over lunch, according to 12 people or 36% of those polled, but then 21 people or 64% said lunch was busiest. Four people or 12% said there were no specials and 29 people or 88% reported having some. (The five items for $5.95 was among those cited.) Eight people or 28% felt the special did nothing to drum up business but 21, or 72% felt that this helped. And the Arbys Q was the most popular menu item, so say 14 people or 42% and the Bacon Beef 'n Cheddar was the best seller for 27% of those polled. Only one person, or 3%, say that their location is new.
