About this author:

I'm hearing reports that Pfizer (PFE) is telling employees in various therapeutic areas right now that there will be deep cuts coming, and that more details will be coming out in about two weeks (individual-level layoff notices, etc.). I gather that obesity research is being hit hard, and some others as well - but any details from people in a position to know would be appreciated.

This is a heck of a time to be laid off, that's for sure. Here's hoping that things aren't as bad as I'm hearing...

PFE is making their move in to biotech. Subject area is DNA directed RNA in partnership with Benitec and other complimentary companies.

    Layoffs are just the entree.

    It won't stop there.

Time to buy big on Benitec and Tekmira.

The funny thing is that your colleague Mr. Huckman was told of this months earlier by myself and has chosen not to investigate or report what PFE's strategy is with regards to personalized medicine. Instead he chose to concentrate on the negatives and well known, well analyzed obvious facts.

It is noteworthy that Roche is now in talks with Rosetta Genomics (ROSG) after having already struck a deal with Alnylam.

Makes PFE look like a sloth.
