Roger Nusbaum submits: Bolivia has caused some interesting havoc for some of the resources companies, including Apex Silver (SIL) which was down 16% Tuesday.

The news causing this is probably totally out of left field for most folks (including me). In the last few months it has been clear that investors have been willing to take on more risk in the mining sector. This is something I wrote about a few months ago.

You don't need to take a lot of risk to add a lot of benefit from a hot sector. The Gold ETF (GLD) is up 21% since I bought it on February 10. Chances are, people that took more risk with junior miners on that same day have had better results -- but do you think is 20% with no single stock risk in three months is enough? If you do, then perhaps you don't need to take junior miner risk?

All I am trying to do is capture most of the move and add to client returns without taking a lot of risk. If that goal describes what you are trying to do and you own Apex and Kinross Gold (KGC) you might want to think twice.
