This morning, FTFM said that Sears (SHLD) is the most concentrated stock in the S&P500. Sixty-two percent of its Market Cap is owned by hedge funds. Sears was one of our Best-Timed Shorts last year, with investors coming to the trade at the right time and making significant returns.
Since then, and in the last six months, there has been a sizeable amount of short covering, and the company now has 12% of its Market Cap out on loan (%MCOL) as opposed to 17% in July and 15.5% in April. Utilisation is still extremely high at 86%, so supply is short, and there are 12.21 Days to Cover.
