Abby Joseph Cohen is a partner and chief U.S. investment strategist at Goldman Sachs. After receiving economics degrees from Cornell University and George Washington University she worked as an economist at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, D.C. and then as economist and quantitative research director for T. Rowe Price. From 1983 until 1988 Ms. Cohen was in charge of investment strategy at Drexel Burnham Lambert Inc, after which she worked for a short time at Barclays de Zoete Wedd, Inc. She joined Goldman Sachs in New York in 1990 as co-chair of the Investment Policy Committee. She is famous for predicting the bull market of the 1990s early in the decade, but failed to predict the dramatic stock market decline of the early 2000s and was overly bullish throughout the downturn.
