Retired from 30+ years in the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), a tiny little subsidiary of the US Department of the Interior. Was a wildlife (mostly fisheries) biologist and then as a Natural Resource Specialist for the oil and gas program. I am now pushing a broom for the elementary school down the block for one school year to qualify for Social Security. Then will retire for good, I hope, unless something more interesting comes along.
My investment career started in early 2000. Since then, I've worked at a global fund as well as a family office looking for cheap stoocks. Graduated from the Anderson School of Management at University of California Los Angeles with a MBA in 2011 and also holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Colorado at Denver. In addition, I hold the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) as well as the Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designations.

I am a saver and a hard worker in my construction consulting profession. Started investing via IRA in Vanguard in '98. Pretty much lost all my gains in 2007-08 but have kept at it and the fund is back up again. Also own some real estate and a percentage of gold and silver.
Very limited but consistent and optimistic conservative investor trying to understand the market and make intelligent and profitable moves. I'm not risk-averse if appropriate hedges are in place to offset potential downside moves. Investing primarily in equities that pay dividends and ETF's so far. Interested in options and other hedging strategies.

I am a value investor to the greatest extent possible. I also favor dividend stocks. I try to be a buy-and-hold investor, but sometimes I can't avoid the tempation to ring the register or to accumulate the inevitable tax loss. The main thing I have learned is that I have lost more money by selling too soon than for any other reason. I reside in Henderson, NV.
I am 59 years old. Married and the father of two girls. Self employed I find myself at this time under employed because of slowing business. I turned to investing as a way to generate some income and preserve the cash I had. I have been successful so far due to the rise of the market. My hope is to learn as much as I can so my money will grow.
