Excellent article, mostly factual and well balanced between bullish and bearish opinion.

Regarding Eddy Elfenbein's bullish conclusions based on the % of GDP comprised by corporate profits, I expect that percentage to be under constant pressure as current political powers do their best to redistribute wealth and prefer to impose expensive corporate demands over direct taxation of middle-class America.

As for preferring "quality" investments, quality is in the eye of the investor. In my world, quality is determined less by size than by growth potential, balance-sheet cleanliness, return on equity, and low valuation multiples of earnings, cash flows, sales and book values. My search for quality has taken me primarilly to emerging markets, most notably China where economic strength seems to be accelerating (as your article well demonstrates).

Forget the 1930s; We're Reliving 1975 (Part II)

While the numbers may currently resemble the '73-'75 period more than the 30s, thanks primarily to an unprecedented program of quantitative monetary easing, I think the 30s more closely resemble the long-term problems we face today. And while I believe a cyclical bull market commenced in March, I don't see it carrying to new highs or lasting very long in the U.S.

Yet Another Huge Economic Number Coming out of China. Hard to Believe

Very shallow article that offers nothing of substance. The numbers out of China could be off significantly (I don't believe they are) and I'd still find much more reason to invest in China than in the US with its overwhelming problems stretching out as far as the analytical eye can see.
