A private investor of over 30 years and a business owner, I seek out deep value plays where short term negatives have overshadowed real long term value. I believe (and invest accordingly) that the best opportunities come from being a business "partner" (shareholder) with good companies and good management teams that are temporarily out of favor, and then being patient enough to be offered a very attractive exit price several years down the road.
I am a full-time college student that has always had interest in the stock market. My uncle initially got me involved several years ago and I have continued watching the stock market and a little profit here and there. I graduate in May and I hope to really get involved and become more knowledgable about the stock market. I still find it very complex, but I am willing to do my homework and become educated over time. As for me I live in Kansas and am married with no kids, and after I graduate and take boards I hope to buy a dog…or two.
I study the best and attempt to emulate them. The best being Warren Buffett and Peter Lynch, and try to study their influences Graham and Fisher. I believe the best approach to equities is recognizing a company in its growth stage and buying it at a reasonable valuation. I was a finance major in college and learned more from reading books written by and about the greatest investors of all time.

Prior to joining Consilium I ran a macro-focused hedge fund straight from university.
Alexander Hurst is a junior in college, who has managed a personal portfolio since buying his first stock (AAPL) in high school. His focus is on alternative energy and technology stocks, and plans to join the Venture Capital field, with the dream of one day starting a seed-capital fund.
Raised in Cleveland, OH, Alexander has been well trained in dealing with disappointing sports teams, and knows to always balance healthy optimism with a bit of doubt. He hopes to live, work, and travel in Europe after graduation.
