Don't be surprised if this doesn't even dip below $1.

It's not foolish either. You just need to be careful. Happy investing!

I found it. I have looked under properties in the 10-K but it wasn't there. It's further down on page 72. We still don't know though the properties contained in the last transaction to arrive at any gains or losses. So we still can't be certain. Anyway, I am out of this position with an insignificant loss. I never argue with the price when I am short. New highs and I am out except if the company is bankrupt and heading to zero.

The only thing I have found is in aggregate. You are talking about specifics of the last transaction. If you find it, please post it. I don't think you will find something like that though, yet.

How can you define the gain to the penny if you don't know the book value of the particular units?

I was aware of the sale. The conclusions you make out of the sale are not supported because of lack of numbers. You make too many assumptions. You may be wrong or you may be right. We don't know yet.

What do you mean? Everything written in the article is a fact.

I neither agree nor disagree that book value understates the true value of the real estate. I just don't know. It has nothing to do with the statistical nature of the above analysis.

The article is based on what we already know. If something changes I will change my mind. I may also close the position if it doesn't go as planned. No reason to be dogmatic.

How are they going to bank profits if they are going to buy more of the same?

This $95M for 26% is a real valuation point instead of an imaginary one.

  • Dissecting The Washington Mutual KKR Deal [View article]
KKR has estimated the value of the NOLs at about $1.1 per share if things go well. That's why the warrants that may be issued have a strike price 1.1$ over the company's book value per share.

The stock price may go anywhere but the value calculated by various market participants just isn't there.

    1. You are calculating profits from securities that don't even exist since the deal isn't done yet.

    2. The 42% cap is not for valuing the common stock but it is there in order to protect the NOLs. If the existing shareholders put in the company $100M then KKR may also put $100M but the price is going to be determined at that time. Your calculations are baseless.
