Housing Crisis Likely to Wipe Out Two Decades of Family-Earned Wealth [View article]
Lots of conflicting housing information out this week. As I wrote recently, I think the first report is more accurate in terms of the major loss of wealth for Americans.
Why the 2008 Housing Relief Bill is No Relief [View article]
Thanks for your all your comments folks. This article sure did stir some controversy. I'll write a follow up and incorporate, some of the comments at my blog : www.savingtoinvest.com, where this article was orginally published.
I've got $95 visa calls and just post-IPO shares in my portfolio - www.savingtoinvest.com.... So am hoping for a good resullt. However, am probably going to cover myself in case of bad news by buying some puts.
Great article and I just recently wrote about my (negative) views on the bill. Your points just conifrm why the housing relief bill will fail. The government again is trying to spend us out of an economic crisis, which is unlikely to work and only add to our national debt and the continued devaluation of the US dollar. Only time and a cleansing of the economic system will resolve the current mess.
We talk about consumers getting out of debt, what about the government who seems to love debt more than anyone else.
Apple Investors Nervous as Earnings Call Approaches [View article]
I am already down 2K on my apple investment and as I lamented in a recent post, I wish I had the bought the stock this week, rather than before the iPhone. Anyway, I will wait and see if my paper losses grow or disappear today.
I am getting ready for an APPL beatdown. Perhaps it was a mistake to buy stocks before the launch. I wrote about my reasons, but should I sell before the earnings and buy back after they report (I still believe in the long term story!)
Google: Don't Hate the Player - Hate the Game [View article]
Great article and as a blogger/marketer myself I couldn't agree with you more. I recently wrote about how google is taking over the traffic reporting data segment (competing with Commscore et al). Once they control the data and the tools, there dominance will then be complete.
DuPont Looks Better Than Dow - Barron's [View article]
Finally a really good call by Barrons. I recently did a detailed analysis on DD at my site (which was also published here). I already have a small position in the stock, but apart from the dividend yield, here's 2 more things I really ike I about it that should add value in the longer term:
- Sales in emerging international markets grew 25 percent, led by Brazil, China, India and Eastern Europe. Given the growing international market and weakening US dollar it is a very positive sign that DuPont's market share and sales in overseas markets like China and India are rising.
- The company has a growing presence in the Solar (photovoltaic) market which it expects to grow by over 30% over the next several years . This rapidly growing market and technology could provide a key future growth catalyst for the company once the agriculture boom slows.
Research In Motion's Pullback is an Opportunity [View article]
The reason is clearly that the street thinks Apple is a better company that will execute it's iPhone strategy better than RIMM and hence make big inroads into their market share. This is why I like and bought Apple stock, (see details at my website/blog) and believe it is a $200 stock by the end of summer.
However if Apple missess forecasts or earnings then all bets are off and RIMM will surge. So buying RIMM now is a bet that Apple will fail. Otherwise go with the market. Enter your comment here

Great article. I recently wrote about this in my blog and why I like Oil stocks for my porftolio. I couldn't decide which stock to pick so went for the ETF which invests in the major oil and related services companies - IXC. I think this is a safer and less volatile bet.
RBC Analyst: Strong Demand for iPhone 2.0 [View article]
I hope they hit $220. I bought them at $187 last week and am down about $1K so far. Holding on so far though. Should have bought some put options....the hype was too much.
Great info and the Apple iPhone and related technology providers are going to enjoy a nice run up over the next few months. I just bought Apple stock and am looking forward to see the (hopefully good) reactions next week.
