  • Exxon Mobil Has Great Defense Against A Tumbling Oil Price [View article]
    BuffaloBell,
Indeed, as the oil majors normally derive about 90% of their total profit from their upstream segment, their integrated structure is usually ignored by investors. However, in rough times, this structure provides a great hedge.

    Dmharper,
Indeed the performance of O'Reilly has been exceptional. Even more important, there is still plenty of room for future growth.

  • Is Coach A Bargain After The Recent Decline? [View article]
    NY2LA 1,
It is evident that there are many inefficiencies going on while the company is going through this massive transformation program.

    Kevin,
I agree with you that it is not clear at the moment whether the massive transformation program will eventually succeed. It will take more than a year to find out.

  • Can Activist Pressure Lead To Better Results At McDonald's? [View article]
    Alexander,
Thank you for another interesting article.
I think the market has become somewhat immune to excessive returns (dividend + buybacks) without earnings growth. Therefore, I believe that MCD will have to grow its earnings to boost its stock instead of just accelerating its buybacks.
Moreover, as this stock always trade at a premium P/E (now 18), the buybacks will have very limited effect on shareholder value.

    Kriefler,
If you definitely want to own this stock, I would recommend you the following:
If the stock gives you the opportunity to sell your position at a small profit, I suggest that you sell your shares and buy them again lower, at around $30.
Of course no-one can be sure where the stock will go but I am almost sure that the stock has further downside, at least to $30.

  • Is Coach A Bargain After The Recent Decline? [View article]
    Stan,
I agree that one year is not enough to evaluate a company but in the case of Coach we have the management's statement that the next 2 years will be worse than last year, as the company will be going through a transformation phase.
Coach may be a bargain again in the future but before that it has further downside, towards $25-$30 in the next 6 months (in my opinion). Of course the stock will bottom some months before the earnings start to rebound but I don't believe we are near that point now.
    Thank you for your comment.

  • Chicago Bridge & Iron: Will The Rebound Continue? [View article]
    Skaterdude,
The market agreed with your view till the earnings release; that's why the hint of an imminent buyback program was a positive surprise for the market. Of course for the rebound of the stock to be sustainable, the management should confirm its hint on Investor Day.
    Thank you for your comment.

  • Copa Airlines: The Numbers Reveal A Great Opportunity [View article]
    Goldbaum,
I agree with you on most points. Of course the issue in Venezuela is not minor. However, thanks to the above mentioned strengths of the company, I believe it will resume its growth after a temporary pause this year.
    Thank you for your comments.

    Alexander,
Thank you for the great article.
KO seems to be facing the same problem as other premium companies (MCD, WMT, PG etc) do at the moment: It is really hard to grow after you have expanded almost everywhere.

  • Copa Airlines: The Numbers Reveal A Great Opportunity [View article]
    Goldbaum,
I have provided the link in the article. It is the latest presentation of the company.
The management of CPA is right in its claim, though I have to agree with you that Venezuela is an unpredictable country. Nevertheless, even if that cash is completely lost (extreme lost), it is approximately just one year's earnings so the company will easily recover that loss in the next few years thanks to its growth.

    Value Expert,
I agree with you that CPA has a wide moat whereas the other airlines have no moat at all and hence they experience very volatile earnings.
