No, I mean do not listen to the statement you quoted - you are absolutely right to not believe it to be true.

    briandp32,

Please do not listen to this. "Silvermont" and its associated SoC implementations are built on Intel's 22nm low power SoC process. This is NOT correct, and I believe that the individual making these claims needs to acquaint themselves with Intel's technology portfolio before posting further.

Why? Why does Intel not have the ability to compete on price?

    Andy,

I doubt that. At $60, the stock would be valued at >60x FY2013E EPS and >50 FY2014E EPS. I think the dose of reality that has hit ARM investors following the first Samsung design wins and the realization that ASPs in smartphones won't grow to the sky will keep the shares well under $60. Looking to go short again over $46.

Buying a bubble stock as a hedge against Intel is a good idea? Okay...:)

    Reported. Again.

Are you incapable of keeping away from personal attacks? Learn to be more civilized, please.

And please spare me yet another lengthy post insulting me - I simply scan your posts for key, insulting words, and I hit the "report abuse" button. What probably took you a good 20 minutes goes entirely down the drain because you couldn't help but be rude.

Erm, is chip R&D additive? Also, AMAT is an Intel supplier, not competitor. Get your facts straight.

Painful because ARM's management can always spin a story that gets people excited and they always lowball guidance so that they "beat" every time.

FD-SOI seems to be an option that Intel evaluated and discarded simply because the cost per wafer increase was too high.

    Justin,

25W would not fit in a tablet...not without having 1hr of battery life, anyway ;)

3.9W Temash is what I'm interested in.

Not trashing - just pointing out that the marketing with number of cores is absolutely silly. Samsung's "Exynos Octa" and AMD's "Bulldozer" are also prime examples...

At least Qualcomm's cores are very well designed and don't hog power like the A15...

    themoviefreak,

Single threaded performance on the desktop is already quite good and the majority of the low hanging fruit has been had there. Also, the usage patterns on high end desktops is vastly different from that of a smartphone.

Heck, only the highest of the high end laptops use quad core processors, with the vast majority of laptops/ultrabooks powered by dual core chips.
