"Intel’s processes are optimized for x86 CPUs. Intel has problems producing analog components. That’s why Intel has TSMC produce its LTE modems and SoFIA with integrated basebands."

    Proof?

"Remember it took Samsung 8 years to build an ecosystem that is just today at 14nm viable. Thankfully Samsung had Apple to fund this foundry effort while Intel has Altera?"

Long term investors are looking out to what Intel will be able to do in the next 5-10 years.

Intel stockholders are enjoying very healthy gains as a result of a pretty solid increase in revenues this quarter, and the company should now be on track to net $10 billion+ in income even after it loses $3 billion this year building up its mobile division (along with the additional losses associated with foundry).

Good businesses leverage today's success to secure tomorrow's future :-)

  • Watch Intel Start To Move [View article]
Doubt Surface Pro 3 will be material to INTC earnings but the general concept is sound as many OEMs proliferate attractive, fanless designs based on Broadwell and successors.

At any rate, happy to see Intel doing well...if the company can bring mobile to breakeven, then the company has LT earnings power of well over $3/share, implying a share price pretty easily over $40.

  • Intel +4.3% AH on guidance hike; Microsoft, AMD, H-P, Nvidia also up [View news story]
Consumer PC likely still weak, but corporate (1/2 of INTC's PC business by revenue, probably more by gross margin $) looks quite good.

Unlikely that Surface Pro 3 did anything to impact these sales.
