    • Sal Marvasti: dangerous. Shorting a momentum stock.
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: that's why I've got a tight stop.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: You would make more money shorting Intel and buying ARM. Its nearly hit your stop.
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: Got stopped out. And, no, I'm not going to short $INTC.
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: I don't short companies that make absolutely ginormous piles of cash and have a top notch mgmt team.

    • Sal Marvasti: So your portfolio will be in the red. If you had done what I says, you would be in the green. Shorting is essentially a short term trade.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: ignore management and long term potential. Look at near term catalysts. All negative for Intel

    • Ashraf Eassa: I'm primarily an investor. I trade short term occasionally. BTW, really glad I added to my $NVDA position as I said I would in the $11's.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: Sell it now :) Before the results come out. We had all this false pullbacks with AMD too. I should I have sold out when it went 3.50->4.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: AMD is up more than NVIDIA. that figures as a trader we should have bought AMD today sold now.
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: Nope. I like NVDA - I've made a lot betting on it at these levels in the past, and I'll make a lot again.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: Your forgetting long term and short term. Short term there will be pain ahead.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: ok, just say you don't like trading :)
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: If I see a really good opportunity to sell (like I did when it ran to $14+ on the last ER), then yeah, I'll sell on the sugar high.
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: But right now, I'm still below my avg, so selling makes zero sense.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: but selling the lot you bought at 11.90 makes you 4% minus broker costs.
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: I shudder to think how I'd have felt if I had sold my FSII @ $4 after the run from $3.
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: I nearly did, too...that's why I have seriously cut back on my short term trading on stuff I legitimately believe in.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: best is to have two accounts. One long term one short.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: I traded HOIL using CFDs, and I kept some in my longer term account.
      10/23/12
    • Ashraf Eassa: I don't have enough capital to run two well-capitalized accounts.
      10/23/12
    • Sal Marvasti: Do you have Contracts for Difference in USA? There are derivatives, and give 10x leverage. SO with just $1000 you can 10k worth of stock.
