These are useful, cost effective utility-bots. They do dull, dirt, dangerous things, chores that people would rather avoid, for a pretty low price. WowWee has a small line up of expensive toys. Besides, have you seen the Rovio? It's freaking scary.

With immigrant labor harder to find and upper middle class households no longer able to afford housekeepers, and the growing strain on the military and increased need for surveillance, there will be a lot of demand for these products that iRobot develops.

The author disclosed he is long OPMR. Is he also one of the many people short IRBT? The article seems extremely biased. Kick-back biased.]]>

OPMR is selling its Optimal Payments subsidiary assets to focus on growing its WowWee subsidiary in the Personal Robotics market, projected to be $15 billion by 2015. Divestitures plus this year's EBITDA will likely result in OPMR having about $120 million in cash and equivalents available to expand its WowWee business. WowWee's business is seasonal with more than 80% of its revenue realized in the second half of the year. OPMR guidance for WowWee 2008 revenue is $130 to $140 million. In the 2008 Q2 conference call, the CEO confirmed that it was reasonable to expect WowWee to generate $8 to $10 million of EBITDA in the second half of 2008.

What they could not buy, they crushed, all for the worst.
Now, current management is too big and too fat, believing their own B.S., but then again, if you are a billionaire you can get away with it!?
Thank goodness for Apple.
End of my rant.]]>
