If the only economic information you have is GDP, then you're right. That's probably not going to help. If you realize that the economy is much more than the government's often-revised GDP print and you're willing to do a little thinking, then economic information is absolutely essential.

I happen to agree with you on QE. I didn't think the first round was such a great idea, and doing more of the same doesn't appeal to me either. But more of the same seems to be the order of the day, and it seems the market will applaud it until it just doesn't work anymore. And I do think that day will come.
