Roberto Sfeir graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Finance.
Worked at JP Morgan & Chase in hedge fund services.
Contributed in Northeastern University's mutual fund, 360 Huntington Fund.
Prior to that, he worked at the oldest mutual fund in the United States: MFS Investment Management.
Prior to MFS, he worked in the telecommunications company Nokia Siemens Networks.
I was educated in electrical engineering and physics. In graduate school, in the 60's, I was a Registered Representative selling mutual funds to help pay for tuition. I and my clients were stung by the collapse of a oil "limited" (very) partnership. (Eventually, the price of oil went up and we got out with our original stake.) In the second half of the 70's. I put my IRA into gold mining shares and profited handsomely - selling when gold reached $300.
Since then I favor U.S. Equities with iron-clad fundamentals and high return on equity (without much leverage) which buyers have recognized and hence the stock has been moving up for three months.
I do other things with FOREX and industrial materials based on the last pages of "The Economist" which I am unable to summarize, but I can say worked poorly during the last debacle. (I can say that I did better than Harvard, but not as good as MIT.)
Today I am President and chief of technology of a tiny high technology startup which so far as been a non-profit. My first startup was sold a couple of years ago.
I run a small, private long/short portfolio. I focus on long term value, with a full expectation of showing paper losses in the short-term. Agnostic on the topic of catalysts. Wary of false precision. Usually ignorant of quarterly results and analyst forecasts. Seeking durable insights on business models and industry trends, and general wisdom.
Young, but hungry value investor aiming for high returns while doing considerable research in the field.
Focused in finding the cheapest excess cash generators. My main criteriums are companies with low or no debt, excellent management, high ROE, considerable growth and which for some reason have hit 52 week low (read cheap).
I try to carefully trade weekly & monthly stock options with expertise in mining companies & traditional manufacturers. Speak & write fluent Portuguese and speak good Spanish. Resided twice in Brazil and once on Guam Island. Employed at the same large foreign-owned Distribution Center the past 15 years & completely 100% Pro-NAFTA. Smart individual investing is the preferred solution to improving one's economic future, as opposed to vast & vague government handouts. Seeking Alpha is the #1 best financial blog because of honest opinions & superb organization.
