  • Market recap: Stocks moved well off early lows, but gains were held back by weak data on U.S. productivity and renewed worries over Europe as ECB's Draghi expressed concern about the recent rise in the euro. The news weighed on dollar-denominated commodities, prompting selling in the materials sector. Apple shares jumped on David Einhorn's proposal to issue some form of preferred stock. [View news story]

    I'm readying getting questions:

In terms of time horizon, I expected to be in here for a few days minimum if things continues as expected. If we really get rolling on the downside because of the extreme sentiment figures I could see a pretty swift corrections lasting two weeks of more as the overzealous bulls get washed out.

  • Market recap: Investors sensing that the market's a bit ahead of itself sent stocks slightly lower in lackluster trading, finding little impetus for action amid disappointing earnings from the likes of Dow Chemical and UPS plus mixed economic data (I, II, III). Still, it was the Dow's best month since Oct. 2011 and its best January since 1994; the S&P jumped 5.1% for the month, and the Nasdaq rose 4%. [View news story]
