  • Apple Mostly Just An Overvalued Hardware Stock; New Catalysts Needed [View article]
How do iPhone sales disappoint because of China Mobile when sales didn't start to mid January?

As the one who submitted the "do not panic" after earnings article, I feel offended, because as I just covered recently, my price target is $575, down from $605.

Meanwhile the highest target on the street is $777, nowhere near $1,000.

And comparing AAPL growth to GOOG and FB. Apple had more net income in a quarter than Google did in a YEAR. Apple did more revenues per month than FB did in the past two years.

How can you say disappointing when the midpoint is a billion above expectations?

    How is that contradictory?

I'm still bullish on Apple. The whole point of this article was to show the ridiculousness of the analyst community at times.

Also, look at your OWN chart. Apple's margins are SIGNIFICANTLY higher than every other name, more than double all but one, roughly 4 times the average.

Plus, where are the huge dividends and buybacks from those names?

How about BlackBerry's 75% revenue drop in just a couple of years?

  • Now That The 'Little Guy' Is In Apple, Time For The Flush [View article]
The market also fell on that Mastercard fall, which was right at Apple's earnings report when Apple dropped in January. Then, MA had its own earnings report, which was not good. The split didn't cause the stock to fall.

  • Why Apple Will Miss Earnings And Trade Below $600 [View article]
Both AT&T and Verizon activated MORE iPhones in Apple's Q4 than they did in Apple's Q3, and Apple sold 26 million iPhones in that quarter. So do you think Sprint sold a negative amount, or did International sales plummet?

All this considering the fact that the 5 was available in more markets to start than the 4S, and they sold 5 million in the first weekend, probably 10 million before the quarter ended.

So you're basically saying that before the launch of the new phone, iPhone sales slowed at a pace of 51% to the prior quarter's daily rate, after a 26% drop in that quarter?

So basically, you're saying that Apple's Q2 through Q4 will have a sales growth number of negative 6%?

    Care to explain that number?

  • Which Company Will Buy Netflix? [View article]
Here's a better question: Why would they want to buy NFLX?

NFLX gross margins are running 2/3 that of AAPL for instance. Apple doesn't make large acquisitions, so they are out.

Why spend $12 billion or so for a company whose net income was like $17 million last year?

Yes, they are being generous by returning them, because they are not legally required to do so. Dividends and buybacks are bonuses to investors. They are not required.

  • 13 Reasons To Buy Intel Now [View article]
    1. Market cap doesn't necessarily mean much.
    2. P/E represents a lack of growth after 2 years of declining revenues and a third year with flat revenue expectations.
    3. Dividend has not been raised in well over a year.
    4. Intel has underperformed many others and the market over the past year.
    6. Half of the cash is outside the US and the company has more than $13 billion in debt.
    8. Margins have dipped a bit lately, especially net profit margins.
    9. EPS in the past two years have fallen off a cliff, and that includes a ton of help from the buyback.

Spitting out current numbers from a screen might look good on paper, but the analysis of these numbers leaves a lot to be desired.

To side with Icahn, they would need to issue a massive amount of debt at higher rates than their previous offering, or bring money home and face huge repatration taxes.

People still miss the fact that more than $37.1 billion of stock will be bought back over the next 9 fiscal quarters. That's $4 billion plus a quarter on average.
