CNBC says that $INTC profit beat. Apparently, they were using wildly conservative estimates, being that Intel missed by a penny...

    • J Mintzmyer: Why did INTC basic and diluted shares go up in the face of the buyback? Was executive compensation, etc that high?!

    • Bill Maurer: It can all depend on when the compensation paid. Same thing happened last year. Important thing is that year over year it was still down.

    • Bill Maurer: But also, they are buying back half of what they were this time last year, so that hurts too.

    • Daniel Caycedo: We as investors only benefit when total number of shares outstanding is decreased. :(

    • J Mintzmyer: Yeah-- is it a quarterly thing or just a annual hit that is typically paid in Q2. Because $550M and still up is a BAD BAD sign if qtrly.

    • Bill Maurer: There was a decent size drop in Q3 last year.

    • J Mintzmyer: Yeah... We'll see. I'm hoping they bump the dividend up symbolically, although I'd rather a smaller divvy and more repurchases.
