  • Disney, Amazon dispute involves more than pricing [View news story]
When it comes to money, companies like these two tend to work it out quickly. I wouldn't expect this to be a long-run issue.

  • Northwest Bio accused in stock-pump scheme, but CEO denies it [View news story]
To be fair, most small cap biotechs dropped more than 7% since Monday morning. NWBO is actually looking pretty good. Might be giving more credit to Pearson than is due.

For the record, WWE stock is up toward $12 now.

I think it's as simple as knowing that the TV show is.. a TV show. It's meant to be fun and entertaining. If you want official communications about the direction of the company, you shouldn't be watching Raw to receive that communications. That's what investor meetings, PRs, and financial statements tell you.

  • Neuralstem NSI-189 Abstract Teases At Potential Greatness [View article]
They still have a ton of cash on hand already though. Plus if the Phase 2 ALS trials are good, I imagine funding will come in from other non-diluting sources to support the Phase 3. The last trial is coming up shortly or already happened, and then they have a 6 month monitoring period. Costs should be low with the surgeries ceasing I would think.

As always with any Phase 1 study such as this, while it's important for a company to deliver good news to shareholders, it's equally critical that shareholders have reasonable expectations. Like any long, I myself can sometimes get over excited at the possibility that this company will eventually deliver (and deliver big). Perhaps your disappointment is tied to unreasonably high expectations?

566 will continue to drive this stock through the year as results come due by Christmas (whether or not interim data is provided). 189 is a bonus, and the start of Phase 2 could provide a nice pop in price if you time it right. You might even see multiple Phase 2's launched.

I agree that we should be tolerant on both sides of the fence, but I don't agree there is reason to be disappointed here though. This is a positive Phase 1 but still just a Phase 1.

  • Here's What Amazon.com's Smartphone Will Do [View article]
I'll say this... Amazon needs to get rid of the "forked Android" you mentioned because that's the one thing I didn't like about my Kindle Fire.

I'll still take Amazon Instant Video over any other option on the market. They're Prime is popular too. Renting/buying/subscri... to movies and music will continue to bring people to Amazon. The phone is another device to help achieve that which is why I like it. They'll build the brand.

Who is hurt more if the phone business crashes - Apple or Amazon? Amazon can afford to fail and they're not afraid to try... that's why I like Bezos! It only takes one successful idea to hit a home run.

  • Amazon holding June 18 launch event; smartphone on tap? [View news story]
They need to get their foot in the door. What was Samsung before the Galaxy came out? I owned a Samsung phone prior to that and I don't remember it's name.

If they make a solid first effort and then capture some market, they can build on that.

There's a time when Samsung launched when only Apple was making any money :)

You missed the pullback, sir. CUR, and just about every biotech, was down 30-40%. Many have now recovered significantly. Will it come again? Maybe, but it may have been a very rare opportunity.

For the remaining 6 months of this year, this stock will be judged on its own merits including 189 results and 566 results all expected by New Years Day.

I appreciate a contributor admitting a bad call. As a contributor myself, especially in biotech where prices are volatile, I try to hold myself similarly accountable.

Great article here. I am a new WWE owner as of 5/30, just north of $11. Not planning to sell anytime soon, and I anticipate Vince taking actions to "right the ship." This brand is too valuable across the globe to be valued this low. I've followed this company for some time throughout my life, and I've seen them go nowhere but up.

In line with Kenser's comments, I doubt it was this article. The share price was on the way up prior to this article. This is supported by Yahoo's price history of CUR.

    5/13/14 - $3.15
    5/20/14 - $3.72
    5/23/14 - $3.86
    5/27/14 - $4.04 (article)
    Currently - $4.49

If anything, Garr's statements regarding 189's trial results as being "statistically significant" and "clinically meaningful" are what helped spur investor enthusiasm (and the same material that this very article is about).

Expect the share price to increase leading into detailed data on 6/17. Based on past experience, the same happened last time investors anticipated ALS results in April but which were not delivered. This time, they've made it clear we can expect NSI-189 details soon, and they've hinted it could be big.

A few things for you to consider:

    1. Are we just naming drug companies with failures here? IMUC's trial was on cancer vaccines and the development process was personalized to the patient. Apples - Oranges. What basis do you have for associating the two... for our education?

    2. The majority of share price seems to be coming from the success in the NSI-566 trial. The 189 drug is largely viewed as a bonus since we don't even have Phase 1 results yet!!! Those will be delivered on 6/17. In other words, what hyping from the Phase 1 of the 189 trial has inflated the stock price, in your opinion???

Nick - You've switched over to stem cell therapies so I assume you're referencing NSI-566 now. Given the reported success of several patients in the trial (past and current trials), are you comfortable keeping a short position as the time gets near for Phase 2 data?
