I am not a professional investor but I am actively investing in corporate stocks and mutual funds in retirement accounts. As a teenager in the late 1970s, I bought my first no-load mutual fund. Through the 1990s I was a very active investor in individual corporate stocks and painfully learned the harsh lesson of the downside of leverage as the internet bubble burst. Since that time, I have been much more conservative and enjoy following specific stocks and talking about possible opportunities with professionals before making investment decisions.
