    Optionable,

Yes indeed - if they want it to trade at a lower price then it will trade lower, being such a tiny sector of the market renders it vunerable to attack.

    yeti786,

'If everybody traded only physical bullion' well we are trading physical bullion, China and India and investors are buying and someone is providing that metal. The price is going south which suggests that the demand is being met.

    boatman,

Is there is a real shooting war in the ME as you call it, Im not sure that there would be a dash for gold. Money can be moved at the push of a button these days so paper money might be moved to a safer jurisdiction, but that we be about it.

    Doublesixes,

Accelerated? Gold was at $1420 in mid-August, today it is $1275; maybe you are referring to a different time period as I don't see any improvement in gold prices.

    Vuke,

You may not know anyone who has sold their gold, but China is buying big time so someone big is selling, the retail investor doesn't really come into at the moment.

    Esko V,

Agreed, the COMEX rules for now, its paper over gold.
If the COMEX runs out of gold, will gold go through the roof?
No - they will settle with cash similar to ABN AMBRO.

If you mean that gold is in very strong hands, then we have to ask why is China able to take delivery of so much of it.

It could take awhile with sentiment being what it is; down in the dumps. Maybe a bounce in the Euro will cap the dollars progress and bring some respite to gold and silver.
