    • BornIn87: If I said 'no' would you stop your incessant spam?
      3/7/13
    • Brad Kenagy: Its not spam, im trying to build interest for the contest I am running.
      3/7/13
    • DogNuts: Its spamming if you keep repeating the same crap and clearly no one is interested.
      3/7/13
    • DumpsterDiver: Which is totally different from spam because it, um...oh, wait.
      3/7/13
    • In&Out: $BBRY what's the prize?
      3/7/13
    • Brad Kenagy: prize is bragging rights, its just for fun.

    • techwonk: I thought you were done for March. Um, yah it would be kinda cooler if you changed up the chat posts a little. Brain food.
      3/7/13
    • Brad Kenagy: techwonk, this is a different contest, this contest is structured like the NCAA Basketball Tourney, and coincided with it.
      3/7/13
    • techwonk: So say that. Brain going too sleep now. Bye.

    • Stephen J Melnykevich: it's spam, I see the same post everyday. It's a shame because you write articles I was interested in and I "WAS" a follower.
      3/7/13
    • joe kelly: Tough crowd Brad. Be glad you're not a waiter at a restaurant these guys frequent.
      3/7/13
    • BornIn87: I feel bad. Keep doing your thing, Brad.
      3/7/13
    • Brad Kenagy: Stephen, I am just trying to have some fun, the posts are to generate interest in the contest.
      3/7/13
    • Brad Kenagy: Stephen,if you think me having some fun on the side affects my article writing you are wrong!!! Lighten up, and don't take things so serious
      3/7/13
    • Brad Kenagy: I'm not going to apologize for having fun on the side. I'm sorry to see you go as a follower but, that is your choice.
      3/7/13
    • DumpsterDiver: I'm going to try to be constructive. (This is a thing I do once or twice a year just to maintain my skills in case an emergency arises.) So:
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: Here's why I think your messages are spam, and (constructive part) an opinion on what could be done to make them less objectionable.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: 1) They're not very informative. Half the message is taken up by a link plus 5 ticker symbols to make it show up on 5 different stock pages.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: 2) They're repetitive. Probably a function of 1), and I don't know if they're word-for-word the same each time, but it sure feels like it.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: 3) This might be unique to me, but I already knew about your contest because I'd read Joe's post about it, and HIS was interesting.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: Gist of his post: I'm shorting Apple for Brad's contest. Yep, shorting Apple. See how that gets your attention?
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: 4) Most importantly, nothing about them contributes to a conversation about the stocks in question, which is what we all came here to have.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: So start a conversation. "Hey, Joe shorted $AAPL in my contest. [LINK] What do you think, is it going to drop in March like he's expecting?"
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: Everyone on the Apple page will have an opinion about THAT. And by definition, they'll be interested in knowing what others think about it.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: Because that's why we're all here in the first place.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: If you contribute something even moderately useful or interesting, then most people won't mind too much if you throw in a link at the end.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: Starting a conversation that people want to participate in (or just read) = contributing something useful and interesting.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: Just lobbing the link at five pages at once, day after day? Spam. By any reasonable definition. No fun to read. Less fun to read repeatedly.
      3/8/13
    • DumpsterDiver: Gotta engage at least a little or no one will care what you're pimping. As evidenced by the fact that USUALLY, no one replies. </hobbyhorse>
