  • Analysts Are Lining Up Behind Cheap Halliburton [View article]
I have read through your other comments on other articles.....you need to adjust that tinfoil hat once in awhile, the world might look less conspiracy laden......activist shareholders agitated for years to get rid of KBR as it was much less profitable than rest of company and a headache to boot. I doubt you know more than billionaires that do this 14 hours a day.

  • My Speculative Play On This $5 Energy Concern Is Getting Some Recent Love From Analysts [View article]
Moody's upgrades Hercules Offshore's (HERO +0.9%) junk rating a notch, saying the driller will benefit from increasing activity in the shallow-water Gulf of Mexico and international offshore markets, which is driving higher day-rate momentum and longer contract durations; the improved conditions could result in better cash flow and lower leverage over the next 18-24 months.

Had a friend of mine who was workman's comp private investigator for some five years......maybe 5% to 10% of people he couldn't catch on camera doing something that showed they were not injured (playing golf, roofing their house, jogging....etc...) within a week. These were flagged cases and this is south florida (#1 for tax identity fraud, medicare fraud, fake auto accident fraud....etc..), but still points to how much abuse there is in system...

  • Time For The Safety Of Chevron [View article]
Brazil regulators give Chevron (CVX +0.5%) the all-clear to restart output at some wells at its Frade field, which has been shut in for over a year after a botched drilling job led to an oil spill and a raft of litigation. The work halt proved a drag on CVX's Q4 earnings, cutting daily production by 29K barrels of oil and gas; before the accident, Frade had been producing 60K bbl/day

  • Intel: 4% Yielder Is Safe Bet For The Approaching Decline [View article]
A (relatively) bullish MKM note on Intel (INTC +2.1%) appears to be giving a lift to the chip giant. The Street is already expecting Intel's PC CPU sales to fall 10% Y/Y in 1H13, thinks analyst Daniel Berenbaum, who believes plenty of bad news is baked in ahead of Intel's April 16 Q2 report. "Longer-term, we maintain our view that INTC will be able to monetize its technology and manufacturing advantage by gaining share in mobility, expanding its foundry business and continuing to dominate the data center space." Other PC-related names are also higher:

...........Not exactly good news for job growth................... Chase (JPM) will lead big U.S. banks in job cuts with 17K expected through 2014, according to Bloomberg, after the six largest U.S. banks announced cuts to 1.8%, or 21K positions, during Q1. The housing rebound means many of the cuts will come in foreclosure units. Banks may tell more about their personnel plans starting this Friday when JPM and Wells Fargo (WFC) report Q1 results.

More taxpayer money down the drain....Fisker Automotive could file for bankruptcy protection this week as the hybrid sports car maker buckles under pressure from the Department of Energy to repay government loans, $10M of which are due on April 22. Fisker's board is due to discuss its options today, with some directors still holding out hope for a sale. The problem is that prospective buyers aren't willing to assume the terms of the DOE loans.
