  • Merrily Going Off The Fiscal Cliff Together [View article]
I say lets go over the cliff and let the blue states take most of the pain and pay the consequence for what they have inflicted on the rest of us.

You are forgetting all the unintended consequences of the bill. Remember the tab for Medicare in 1990 turned out to be ten times higher than projected when passed in 1965. More imporntantly, we can't afford the established entitlements we already have without adding this monstrousity.

That is a disingenuous argument on two fronts. Most of the transfer payments you reference are for programs that were passed with little or no republican support (Obamacare being just the latest example and includes Medicare, medicaid, food stamps)....second most of those transfer payments are going to socioeconomic or demographic groups that tilt heavily democrat.....so these payments are from liberal backed programs that go to democrat leaning constituencies that just happen to be in Red states. It is nice and often repeated soundbite that has little to no basis in facts.

  • FT: Errors place doubt on Piketty's theory about rising inequality [View news story]
Dr. William Gray PhD from M.I.T. and the go to guy for hurricane forecasts for over three decades on Global Warming...."Al Gore and Global Warming is the biggest hoax so far in the 21st century".....same sources (Greenpeace, NY Times, Ford Foundation, Dr. James Hansen....etc...) that are pounding the table for Global Warming now (and of course expanding govt to do something about it)....were sames sources predicting the next mini-ice age in the 70s.....Got to give it to Al Gore....was worth $2mm to $5mm after losing election in 2000. Now worth some $250mm.....good moolah to be made scaring the ignorant.

  • Kerry: No rush to decide fate of Keystone XL pipeline [View news story]
And absolutely none has to do with this administration. NG production on Federal lands over the past five years are down 1/3, oil production is flat, permitting times have doubled, ......while we have thrown tens of billions at failed alt energy enterprises (Solnydra, A123, Fisker,, etc...). All the increase production has come from private acreage with private money. Total fossil fuel production on Federal lands is at a decade low. Oil production is up despite the administration, not because of it. Keystone is typical of this administration. Five years to delay a decision that would create 10K - 20K and wouldn't cost the taxpayers a dime meanwhile pissing off our largest trading partner. No wonder we are in by far the weakest post war recovery on record.

Very disingenuous...as his "secretary" makes some $250K annually, not the salary range most people associate with profession....

  • Paul Krugman: "The austerity agenda looks a lot like a simple expression of upper-class preferences, wrapped in a facade of academic rigor. What the top 1% wants becomes what economic science says we must do." Ken Langone responds: Runaway deficits are the older generation "stealing" from the young, and Paul Krugman has never met a payroll and doesn't have to worry about profit margins. [View news story]
I will take Langone's take. Govt is spending more than $1T annually under Obama (Also someone who never had to meet a payroll) while tax revenues are now coming in higher than FY2007. That is not austerity, that is a spigot that needs to be closed.

  • Apple: $420 A Share Could Have Marked The Bottom [View article]
I think Apple has many future growth levers that most investors don't factor in. For instance, it should get just under $5B in revenue just from its app stores, which is almost pure profit. It will be interesting to see the reaction when Apple announces what it plans to do with its cash hoard this month.

  • It Is Not Different This Time - It Is Worse [View article]
Interesting....How do you explain how Romney won college grads by 8% to 10% and Obama won non HS grads by 60%? I could have said compare Scottsdale AZ (hardly blue) with Detroit, New Orleans, Chicago....etc....all deep blue. Another interesting fact, Blue states like CA, IL, MA have net migration out of state, the highest taxes as well the largest disparity between rich and poor......and CA and IL are all but insolvent as well. (CA is also near the bottom in education K-12) BTW, I am fiscal conservative, social moderate and economic liberal....abstained in 2008 and voted for Clinton in 96 (Senators are not equipped to be president, no mgmt experience)..............
