"California" changes the dynamics in the data center, especially for cloud computing infrastructure architectures. This is a big play on virtualization. I'm sure Cisco has been talking a lot lately to VMware, Microsoft, Citrix, and Virtual Iron; and it may eventually lead to Cisco purchasing VMW (if EMC acquiesced)

It's disappointing how year after year the technology pundits crawl out the same tired themes. In addition, so few of these predictions are actionable in any way.
That said, I found Morgenthal's 5 points interesting. While I don't agree with all of them I think they are well thought out and I would guess he is the only one who has implemented anything this decade; e.g. actually gotten his hands dirty writing some code.
